Candle Burning and Safety Tips
|
| |
| We stand behind the high quality candles that we sell when burned according to the tips below. We have found our candles to burn slowly, evenly &, when used properly, leave minimal wasted wax behind. Please note that all candles produce some smoke and soot. However, with proper care (trimming wick, avoiding drafts, etc) smoke and soot can be kept to a minimum. In order to fully enjoy any candle I encourage you to read these quick safety tips.

Never leave a burning candle unattended.
Keep burning candles away from children and pets.
Always place burning candle on heat resistant, level surface. Hot jars can damage furniture.
Avoid burning candles in drafts which will cause uneven burning, smoking, & flickering.
Never move or handle a burning candle.
Allow candle to cool completely before trimming wick, relighting, or replacing lid. If soot builds up on the inside of the container simply wipe cooled candle clean with a paper towel.
Keep wick trimmed to 1/4 inch to avoid smoking and uneven burning. Although the wicks are designed to be self trimming they may require extra trimming depending on the burn time. Wicks trimmed too short will not burn properly and might extinguish itself.
Keep wick centered to ensure even burning. If wick becomes off center, use a butter knife to gently move it back center while wax is warm.
Never allow burning wick to touch the side of the jar.
Allow candle to burn until melted wax meets the side of the jar. This helps ensure maximum burn time and even burning.
Place votives in a snug fitting votive holder to maximize their use, as they liquefy during the burning process.
Stop burning candle when there is approximately 1/2 inch of wax left on the bottom. Extreme temperatures from the flame may cause the jar to bust.
Keep candle free of wick trimmings, matches, or any objects that might be a fire hazard.
Store candles in a cool, dark place. Direct sunlight for extended periods of time may cause discoloration.
